As the warm days of summer dawn, you might notice that your hair become limp, frizzy and ragged-looking. Your blond locks might start to look a bit brassy, or your lovely curls might start to go out of control. No matter what type of summer hair problem you are facing, there are plenty of great ways to ensure that your style stays intact this summer.
1. Fight the Summer Hair Frizz
Drying conditioners combined with the summer heat can work together to create frizz. Start controlling frizzy summer hair by using a moisturizing treatment once a week. Avoid blow-drying, curling irons and flat irons whenever possible. Applying heat to your hair will make frizz and static electricity even worse. Instead, look for great hairstyles that can combat frizz, such as beachy waves or loose buns.
2. Wake Up Lifeless Locks
If your hair has become limp and lifeless, revive it with products designed to combat heat and humidity. Spritz on a little of your favorite spray, but avoid layering on tons of hairspray and other products. Too much product can actually make your hair look even limper in the summer heat! Consider trying out a few different styles, such as an elegant ponytail or relaxed waves. Another solution is to add a few well-placed highlights throughout your hair to help create an illusion of dimension.
3. Discolored Or Sunbleached Summer Hair
Playing in the sun, sand and surf can wreak havoc on summer hair, but there are plenty of great products available to help treat dry, damaged and discolored hair. Start by always rinsing your hair before taking a dip in the pool. If you get into chlorinated water with dry hair, your hair will immediately absorb a large amount of chlorine. Pre-rinsing helps to “seal” your hair by preventing more water from being absorbed. Also try deep conditioners, daily conditioners and hot oil treatments to help revive and repair damage caused by excessive sun or chlorine. If all else fails, pay a visit to your stylist in order to fix discolorations and trim off damaged ends
